Iran’s steel production up 11.6% year-on-year

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA – Iran produced some 7.2 million tons of steel products in the first four months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21) which shows an 11.6% growth compared to figures from the same period last year, Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade said on Monday. It said that Iran’s output was around 6.45 million tons in the four-month period last year. World Steel Association said in its July report that Iran’s steel product has grown 11 percent in July which is nearly six times more than the world average. The world steel production grew by 1.9 percent on average in July, the report said, noting that Iran has made the biggest growth in production among the 60 world steel producers. Iran produced some 14.988 million tons of unprocessed steel in the first seven months of 2019 which suggests a 6.4 percent growth compared to figures from the same period last year (14.091 million tons), the Ministry said in a statement. Iran also produced some 2.2 million tons of unprocessed steel in July 2019 which shows an 11.1 percent growth compared to figures from the same month last year (1.981 million tons), it said.
