List Of Suspects In Bangkok Attacks Now Eight, And Growing

By Minggu Simon Lhasa BANGKOK, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Thai police have added Turkish man, Emrah Davutoglu as a new suspect in the two bomb attacks in Bangkok on Aug 17 and 18, the eighth so far. Police spokesman, Police Lieutenant General Prawuth Thavornsiri said the Minburi Court had issued the warrant of arrest against Emrah Davutoglu, the husband of Wanna Suansan, who is already in the list of suspects. There is already a warrant of arrest against Wanna which was issued last Sunday. Prawuth said the police were expected to seek more warrant of arrests against those suspected of being involved in the bomb attack. He said Emrah faces the charges of possessing unauthorised military hardware that included explosive powder which were found in the rented rooms raided by the police last Saturday. He said Wanna and Emrah left Thailand together. A woman who claimed to be Wanna told a local television station that she left the country on July 1. Prawuth described the suspects as criminals instead of terrorists. He said they are members of a group, that comprised Thais and foreigners, that was adversely affected when Thai authorities took action against illegal human smuggling activities recently. He said evidence of human smuggling was the discovery of about 260 fake passports from the rooms that were raided in Nong Chok last Saturday. --BERNAMA
