Three M'sian Students Win International Innovation Award

KULIM (Kedah, Malaysia), Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Three students made the country proud after emerging as “Double Gold” winners at the International British Innovation And Technology Show in London, United Kingdom held from Oct 22 to 25. The team headed by R. Rashikash, 13, from Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Chio Min here together with two students from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Kulim here, namely R. Prevena, 11, who is Rashikash's younger sister and V. Sushmeetha, 11, were winners in the student category in the contest held at the Barbican Exhibition Centre, Hertfordshire, London. The team's innovation design creation, the Energy Saving Drinking Machine was made with recycled materials such as cables and electrical wire to save electricity. Rashikash, a former SJKT Kulim student said three of them took more than three months to prepare the design gadget under the supervision of a SJKT Kulim science teacher. "We got our inspiration for the project from the internet and our parents encouraged and guided us along the way for the success of the innovation," Rashikash told Bernama here Thursday. The team was among 40 Malaysian participants in the show which attracted 200 teams from all over the world. -- BERNAMA
