Tourism Between Iran-Tunisia To Boom

Tehran, Oct 6, IRNA -- Vice-President and Head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, by referring to cultural and historical commonalities between Iran and Tunisia, said that necessary grounds for tourism cooperation between the two countries is ready. Mohammad Ali Najafi, after meeting with Tunisian Minister of Tourism Jamel Gamra here on Saturday afternoon, told reporters that joint tourism committee between the two countries have been established after six years, adding that the committee makes the ground for cooperation and more activities between Iran and Tunisia ready. Issues of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting with Tunisian minister, Najafi said. Making facilities for tourists, increasing cooperation in the field of international marketing, and holding bilateral exhibitions were also discussed, said Najafi. He continued that the two sides also discussed exchanging tourism management and planning systems. Najafi expressed dissatisfaction over the low volume of tourist exchanges between the two countries in the past year, adding that only 1,500 tourists traveled between the two countries in the past year, which is not acceptable. Jamel Gamra, for his part, said the two sides discussed creation of necessary grounds for cooperation between Iran and Tunisia in the field of tourism. He underlined that increasing relations in the field of tourism will have a positive effect on expansion of political ties./end
