Wife Of Military Member Arrested For Narcotics Trafficking

Medan, North Sumatra, Nov 18 (Antara) - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN), North Sumatra chapter, has arrested DD, wife of a military member, for alleged narcotics trafficking in the Medan Marelan area. After meeting the regional legislative assembly here on Monday, the head of the BNN chapter, Senior Commissioner Rudi Tranggono, said the suspect was arrested on Thursday at her house at Griya Marelan Pasar 4 housing complex in Medan Marelan. During the raid, the BNN confiscated 2.1 kilograms of methamphetamine, 11,000 ecstasy pills and Rp10 million in cash believed to have been earned from the narcotics business. The meth initially weighed three kilograms but "before her arrest, the suspect was able to dump some of it," he added. He said the BNN also confiscated some assets, including a house, several cars and motorcycles, based on evidence that money from the narcotics business had been used to purchase them. "We have confiscated some assets as evidence of money laundering," he added. He said based on investigations, the narcotics were procured from Malaysia and distributed in a number of regions within the country. As an example, he noted, DD initially procured 20,000 ecstasy pills but only 11,000 had been found, indicating she had sold a part of the shipment. He said the BNN believes the drug trafficking had been underway for at least a year. "We have been investigating the case for the past four months," he added. Based on further investigations, it was found that the business is controlled by MK, a prisoner at Tanjung Gusta penitentiary. "We have taken MK from Tanjung Gusta penitentiary for questioning," he added.
