Felda Women's Association Humanitarian Mission To Cambodia

From Mohd Hisham Abdul Rafar PHNOM PENH, May 6 (Bernama) -- A humanitarian mission of the Felda Women's Association of Malaysia (WADA) is in Cambodia to provide assistance to four needy Muslim villages. The 102-member mission, comprising also nine medical specialists and nurses, began their four-day programme Thursday focusing mainly on giving medical aid. WADA president Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid said the material aid comprised clothing, rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil, food pastes and medicines donated by Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad and individuals. She said the mission would also undertake a mass circumcision and host a sacrificial feast. "About US$2,000 (RM8,000) in tithe contributions will be handed over to selected mosques and madrasah," she told Bernama. Bibi Sharliza said the four selected villages were Kampung Temoi, Kampung Jhiro, Kampung Poti In and Kampung Kian Ramiat, and between 1,000 and 1,500 people were expected to benefit from the mission which is being undertaken at a cost of about RM200,000 (US$49,813). -- BERNAMA
