FM: Final Vienna deal must uphold Iran’s rights, guarantee durable sanctions removal

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Monday that a final agreement in the JCPOA revival talks should uphold Iran’s rights and guarantee the sustainable removal of the sanctions in place against the country. He made the remark during a phone conversation with EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, as the latest round of the talks wrapped up in Vienna. Amirabdollahian said that the Iranian negotiating team attended the talks with determination and seriousness to reach an agreement, presenting constructive ideas to resolve the remaining issues. He also said that the Iranian team had informed EU Coordinator Enrique Mora of the Islamic Republic’s approaches and considerations regarding the proposals he put forward, adding that all parties are expected to show determination and seriousness to reach a final text of an agreement. Borrell said that he believed progress had been made in the latest round of the Vienna negotiations, describing them as positive. He also said that the European Union will continue its efforts to bridge the gap between parties until all sides reach a good result. The Iranian foreign minister expressed hope that an agreement is reached by taking a realistic approach and putting aside unconstructive stances, especially on part of the US.
