FM Spokeswoman Refutes Wall Street Journal Allegations As Totally Baseless

Tehran, May 21, IRNA - Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Tuesday refuted the recent allegations made by Wall Street Journal on Iranˈs recruitment of Afghan nationals to fight in Syria as baseless. The US daily should apologize to the Afghan people for its insult, she said. The claim made by the US daily is totally unfounded as it seek to tarnish Iranˈs image in Afghanistan, she said. Afghan officials did not confirm the news either, she said. The failure of warmongers in Syria is the reason behind such lies aimed at provoking the Afghan people, she said./end
