Moscow considers Paris climate agreement a reliable framework for solving climate issues - foreign ministry

MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Russia considers the Paris climate agreement to be a reliable international legal framework for solving the global warming issue, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the United Nations conference on climate change in Bonn on Wednesday. "The Russian side considers the global warming to be one of the most serious challenges in the area of sustainable development concerning all countries, which is why it views the Paris agreement as a reliable international legal framework for a long-term solution of the climate change issue," the ministry said. Moscow intends to "continue taking an active part in the talks in the spirit of partnership and collective responsibility," the report said. "Being one of the leaders of the global climate process, along with the majority of the UN member-states Russia signed the Paris agreement in April 2016. Pursuing an efficient cooperation with other delegations, Russia is seeking to ensure a successful intergovernmental process, including a consensus over the future rules of the Paris agreement implementation," Russia’s Foreign Ministry reported.
