P5+1 political directors will discuss further contacts with Iran - diplomat

VIENNA, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - Political directors of the P5+1 group will gather in Vienna on Monday for talks on further contacts with Iran, a well-informed diplomatic source has said. “The political directors will gather in the morning to discuss the results of the ministerial meeting and further contacts with Iran,” the source told Itar-Tass. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will continue talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif. “Their meeting is scheduled to be held at 13:30 Moscow time,” the source said. A member of the U.S. delegation said one of the tasks of Kerry’s visit was to hold consultations with the Iranian counterpart for determining Iran’s readiness to make necessary steps. Commenting on the previous consultations, Kerry said the discussions were good. However, Zarif said the disagreements remained. “I believe that we went through a rather important path. But we didn’t solve important problems and settle all disagreements,” he said. He said the Iranian delegation was ready for “working towards the goal”. “We hope that a final document on Iran’s nuclear programme will be adopted by July 20,” Zarif said. The P5+1 is a group of countries which in 2006 joined the diplomatic efforts with Iran in regard to its nuclear programme. The term refers to the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany, namely the United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Related news on itar-tass.com
