Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Is In Tanggerang-Banten, Not Jakarta

JAKARTA, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- All local and international aircraft landing at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport are reminded to announce that they have safely landed at the airport in Tenggerang-Banten, not Jakarta. Airport handling company, PT Angkasa Pura 11, in a media statement said the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is actually in Tanggerang-Banten and not in Jakarta, Indonesia. The statement said the practice of aircraft crew, prior to this, was to announce, "Welcome to the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta" and it should be changed to "Welcome to the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tanggerang-Banten". The statement said a directive had been issued on Dec 29, 2015, but it was found that many aircraft landing there still mentioned the airport being in Jakarta or Cenkareng, Jakarta. It said the aim of correcting the announcement on the location of the airport was to furnish complete information to passengers that they had not yet reached Jakarta and to promote the actual region where the airport is located. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is actually located in Tanggerang, the biggest city in the Banten region which borders West Jakarta and North Jakarta. --BERNAMA
