Iranian Kurash fighter becomes world champion

Bojnourd, IRNA – Elias Pakdel has succeeded in winning a gold medal in the 13th World Senior Kurash Championship 2022, an official said. Head of the Korash Association Kurosh Khosroyar told IRNA on Saturday that the qualified athlete from the city of Bojnourd in North Khorasan province became world champion in -73kg in Indian competitions. The Kurash Association of India organized the 13th World Senior Kurash Championship 2022 from 23 to 29th November 2022 at Balewadi Sports Complex Pune. This championship is being held under the approval of the International Kurash Association and Indian Olympic Association. In the first day of the contests, Pakdel overcame all rivals and reached the final match, when he defeated Von Jaedog, the official said. In -73kg, Pakdel was followed by Nowruz Karimzud from Tajikistan and Solimanov from Uzbekistan, who stood the third rank, Khosroyar said. According to the chairman, Ali Mohammadi Barimanloo in -60kg also from Iran was forced out of the tournament following his failure in the first round. The contests in other weights are being held at Pune complex. North Khorasan province possesses 1,400 athletes, who are exercising kurash and judo.
