Campaign for parliamentary elections runoff to start on May 2

TEHRAN, Apr. 20 (MNA) – The campaign for Iran's parliamentary elections runoff is set to start on May 2.

The names of the candidates for the 12th term of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) runoff which will be held on May 10th in 22 constituencies were announced earlier in April.

The first round of the 12th parliamentary elections was held on Friday, March 1st. Of the country's 87 million people, more than 61 million were eligible to vote in the polls.

Voters were taking part in the parliamentary elections to choose 290 legislative body members from over 15,000 candidates. Elected members will serve for a term of four years in the parliament.

Iranian media reported on Saturday, March 2nd that the rate of participation in the nationwide vote for the 12th term of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) and the 6th term of the Assembly of Experts was over 40%.
