Large fire extinguished in Baku, one killed
Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 4 /Trend, T.Hajiyev/ The five-story dormitory, located behind the restaurant "Kaktus" in Yasamal district of Baku, burst into flame on Friday. Four fire cars arrived on the scene. Fire was eliminated.
According to Chief of Staff of the State Fire Safety Service Akbar Novruzov, information about the fire was received by the Service at approximately at 18:10. The units of Yasamal state fire safety service were immediately sent to the scene. Taking into account the scale of the fire, additional units were involved to extinguish it.
"The fire burned combustible construction in the corridor and one room on the second floor of the fourth corps of the dormitory of Azerbaijan Technical University, Novruzov said.
According to him, the cause of the fire was an explosion as a result of violations of safety rules when using a gas cylinder by Rahman Jafarov at his room.
"As a result, Jafarov was killed and four people were wounded. During the fire, about 300 residents were evacuated from the dormitory," he said.
