IRNA, Kyodo ink MoU on news exchange

Tokyo, IRNA – The top officials of the Iranian and Japanese news agencies have held a meeting in Tokyo, Japan, to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on news exchange.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 52nd meeting of the Executive Board of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) on Friday between Managing Director of Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency Ali Naderi and President of Japan’s Kyodo News Toru Mizutani.

Referring to the signed MoU between IRNA and Kyodo, Naderi said that the MoU follows previous negotiations to develop collaboration in the areas of photo, multimedia, and professional education, paving the way for joint media projects.

He said that Iranian and Japanese people enjoy deep-rooted ties, noting that the people of the two countries have a positive image of each other and that the two agencies should cooperate to strengthen relations and provide accurate information.

Mizutani, for his part, expressed hope that the MoU between IRNA and Kyodo could lead to wider cooperation between the two.
