AirAsia Shares Up On Potential Dual Listing Talks In Hong Kong

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- Low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd's share price rose news that the company was planning a dual listing in Hong Kong. According to a report citing sources, the dual listing was intended to make AirAsia the pan-Asian low-cost airline player and to pave the way for the company to set up a joint venture in China. At lunch break, AirAsia Bhd was four sen higher at RM2.63 (US$0.66), with 18.84 million shares changing hands. Group Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes tweeted 23 hours ago and made vague comments to the potential dual listing without indicating geographical location as well as pointing out on aircraft capacity expansion. "Looking at more ancillary, more capacity and dual listing," he tweeted. It was reported that AirAsia has expanded operations by setting up joint ventures in other areas such as India. -- BERNAMA
