Big Thai-Chinese business matching

BANGKOK, May 19 (TNA) -- Hundreds of Chinese business persons arrived in Thailand for a big round of business matching with Thai operators and they will be briefed on promotional privileges for investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Development project. The visitors were brought by the Bank of China, and Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak met them in the “Thailand Cross Border Trade & Investment Conference” on Thursday. In the meeting, Mr Somkid said the Thai government was ready to support the One Belt One Road policy of China in the way that Thailand would be the gateway for China’s investment and trade in Southeast Asia. To be the hub, Thailand was developing its infrastructures and Chinese operators could invest in the development, he said. Mr Somkid said that he had informed representatives of the Bank of China in Beijing that the Thai government was seriously developing the EEC and infrastructures and only six months later Chinese investors and representatives of the Bank of China were invited to pay the visit and learned details about the development. He hoped the visitors would do business matching with Thai counterparts in 10 industries that Thailand was actively promoting. About 1,000 Thai and Chinese business persons joined the business matching event, Mr Somkid said. Since 2014 China has been Thailand’s most important trading partner and Thai product importer. Last year it was Thailand’s second biggest investor with 81 projects worth 52.7 billion baht. (TNA)
