BOB-BSP Asked To Increase Oil Production

Pekanbaru, Riau, March 22 (Antara) - The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK-Migas) has asked oil and gas Joint Operation PT Bumi Siak Pusako (PT BOB-BSP) to increase its production which is declining of late. "PT BOB-BSP production is declining. We have a new challenge to find new oil reserves," SKK-Migas Deputy for Operation Control Muliawan said here on Friday. Muliawan was holding a working meeting with PT BOB-BSP on Friday. He said PT BOB-BSP was now making efforts for its second recovery which were expected to increase its next production. "To increase national production capacity we should maximize our natural resources to support national economy," he said. The SKK-Migas deputy for operation control said PT BOB-SBP was also expected to finish its projects on time and reduce its dependence on PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI). "If it wants to increase production, PT BOB-BSP should not depend on CPI whose production capacity now has been full," he said. Senior Operation Manager PT BOB-BSP Wimpi Wisnu Prambudi said meanwhile that his company had made efforts to increase production. "Now, we are in the process of obtaining licenses for seven locations from the Ministry of Forestry. The seven locations consist of two exploration wells and five expansion wells," he said. Wimpi said that his sides had obtained seven recommendations from the Riau governor. His company has fulfilled the required conditions with regard to things relating to the forestry ministry. The seven locations are Benemakmur Kix, Benewangi (exploration wells) and Beruk L-01, BNE K-01, BNE L-01, BNE L-02 and Zamrud South K-01 (expansion wells). Muliawan said on Thursday that SKK-Migas is planning to drill 235 exploration wells in 2013. He said the 235 wells would be drilled this year as part of the long term goals of his task force. Muliawan said there were still problems that had to be settled such as license, land procurement and rig. But he expressed confidence that these problems could be resolved to achieve both short and long term goals. On Tuesday last week, SKK-Migas revealed that in the January - February 2013 period the drilling of three exploration wells in the eastern region of Indonesia succeeded in striking oil and gas reserves. Exploration Division Head of SKK-Migas Nugrahani said the three wells were South Kecapi-1 of Blok Bontang (offshore East Kalimantan), North Klalin-3 of Blok Bermuda (in Salawati, Papua) and Ajek-1 of Blok Kofiau (in Raja Ampat, West Papua). The operator of South Kecapi-1 well is Salamander Energy Pte Ltd while North Klalin-3 and Ajek-1 are respectively operated by Petrochina International and Niko Resources. "The result of the content test of South Kecapi-1 showed it can channel 6,000 barrels of oil per day and eight million metric cubic standard feet per day (mmcsfpd)," he said. The drilling of North Klalin-3 was successful to penetrate 93 feet of basin with a content test of 7.8 mmcsfpd of gas and 240 barrels per day of condensate. "Ajek-1 well showed the availability of gas deposit," Nugrahanid said. In 2012, a total of 60 wildcat exploration wells were drilled. Of the number, 28 wells were found to keep hydrocarbon potential, namely five wells containing oil, 13 wells holding gas and 10 others having both oil and gas.
