BoT ready for money market volatility after attacks on Paris

BANGKOK, Nov 14 (TNA) -- The Bank of Thailand (BoT) governor Veerathai Santiprabhob said Saturday that the central bank is prepared for any volatility which might occur on money and capital markets when they resume next Monday following bloody attacks on the French capital. Mr Veerathai said he still did not know whether there would be any effect on money and capital markets, but the BoT is ready to control any volatility when the markets resume opening next Monday. Friday’s attacks show that risks could happen any time and they had occurred in many countries before, therefore, those involved must know how to manage risks and should not panic much with the incidents that took place, he added. Meanwhile, national flag carrier Thai Airways International (THAI) announced that the airline still continue operating its daily flight from Bangkok to Paris. THAI airline leaves Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12.05am and arrives Paris at 6.50am local time while it departs Paris at 12.55pm and arrives Bangkok at 6.25am. So far, no commercial airlines have cancelled flights from Bangkok to Paris following the attacks. (TNA)
