Businesses registration in Thailand to rise to 65,000 in 2015
BANGKOK, May 15 (TNA) - The number of newly registered businesses is expected to increase to some 65,000 in 2015 from 59,468 in 2014, thanks to several positive factors, according to the Department of Business Development.
Pongpun Gearaviriyapun, director-general of the Department, told reporters on Friday these factors include accelerated government spending and investment, improved political situations and recovering border trade and tourism.
Pongpun said the number of newly registered businesses in April stood at 4,500, down by 20 percent or 1,100 in March.
She attributed the monthly decrease to high number of public holidays in April, which reduced the number of working days when business registration could be made.
“Year-on-year, the number of newly registered businesses rose by 7 percent in April,” she noted.
Pongpun said five most common kinds of businesses registered in April were general building, property development, restaurant operation, wholesale machinery trade, and accounting and audit.
She said a total of 925 businesses shut down in that month. (TNA)
