Dao Heuang spends USD 70 mln for coffee plant in Champassack

VIENTIANE,1.16.2012 (KPL)- The Dao Heuang Group has invested more than USD 70 million to build a modern coffee processing factory in the southernmost province Champassack. The construction of the factory is 99 per cent completed and it will have a trial operation early next month, according to Ms. Bounheuang Lithdang, General Director of the Dao Heuang Group. “This factory is relatively big and equipped with modern production technologies. It will be able to produce 6,000 to 8,000 tonnes of instant coffee, which will then be exported to overseas markets namely Japan, Russia, EU, and neighboring countries,” said Ms. Bounheuang. Mr. Sisouphanh Sihalath, Managing Director of the Dao Heuang Group said that the instant coffee products of the corporate were well-known locally but not in overseas markets unlike Moccona or Nescafe. “If we want to gain popularity for the product quality improvement is needed. Once the factory is completely built more quality coffee will be available.” “According to the survey by the company, Dao Coffee is popular in Asia markets,” said Mr. Sisouphanh.
