Eight Chinese rubber processors keen to invest in Thailand

BANGKOK, December 7 (TNA) - Thailand’s Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Amnuay Patise says currently up to eight Chinese entrepreneurs of rubber processors are interested to invest in Thailand. He said two out of the total rubber processing operators have already applied for promotional privileges from the Board of Investment (BoI). Currently, several tyre manufacturers from China’s San Tung province have already invested in Thailand, in line with the Thai government’s policy in persuading investors to invest in the rubber industry to lift rubber prices. Meanwhile, recent reports say China has decided to reduce the use of Thai rubber in manufacturing plastic products to 88 from 99 per cent earlier despite incentives from the Thai side to win back Chinese demand for Thai rubber like before.
