Google Malaysia Emerges As Top Company To Work For
KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Bernama) -- Google Malaysia has emerged as the leader in JobStreet.com’s survey of top 10 companies that Malaysians aspire to work for.
JobStreet, Asia’s leading online employment marketplace, said the result was based on a survey which involved 10,241 Malaysians across all position levels, which aimed to determine what the majority of professionals deemed as great companies, and the reasons for joining these companies, it said in a statement Thursday.
“Google Malaysia, a unit of the US-based tech giant, is well-known for its work-life balance culture, and has managed to push itself all the way to the top, shifting two levels up from last year,” it said, adding that Petronas, Shell Malaysia, Sime Darby and Air Asia Bhd took the second, third, fourth and fifth spot respectively, this year.
Completing the top 10 list in order of ranking was Maybank, Nestle Malaysia, Intel Malaysia, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Eco World Development Group Bhd.
According to the survey, Malaysians prioritised career development opportunities, citing it as the main reason they would want to work with top companies.
“This was followed by benefits and incentives, while salary was stated as the third top reason, indicating that monetary compensation remains as an important consideration across all position levels,” said JobStreet.
JobStreet.com Malaysia and Singapore Country Manager Chook Yuh Yng said in the new economy, it would take more than financial benefits or incentives to attract talents.
“Today, companies need to compete for talents through strategic and unique approaches to differentiate themselves from their competitors,” said Chook.
“As reflected in our top 10 companies 2017 survey, the employee development area presents a great opportunity both for hirers and talent,” she said.
Additionally, the survey showed that six out of the top 10 companies that Malaysians aspire to work for were Malaysian companies, showcasing the local companies’ ability to compete alongside foreign multinational corporations in attracting and retaining talents, as well as, meeting talents’ career aspirations.
