HALFEST ASEAN 2017 To Attract 100,000 Trade Buyers, Visitors

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- The Halal Fiesta ASEAN 2017 (HALFEST ASEAN), which is set for Aug 23 to 27 here, is expected to attract some 100,000 trade buyers and visitors. Featuring 550 booths showcasing 6,000 innovative halal products and services, the fiesta will be held at the MINES International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC), Seri Kembangan near here. In a statement Thursday, event manager Shapers Malaysia said HALFEST ASEAN 2017 would present halal trade and consumer programmes in the quest to meet increasing demand of halal products and services in Malaysia and the ASEAN region. The programmes lined-up include the Malaysian Halal Clinic for local entrepreneurs to learn and strengthen halal certification in order to improve the ranking and marketing of their products and services. Shapers Malaysia said the main objective of HALFEST ASEAN is to serve as a key platform to prepare local entrepreneurs to become halal champions and penetrate the global market. Hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, HALFEST ASEAN 2017 will withness the collaboration between Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) and the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit for the first time with the aim of increasing Bumiputera participation in high-potential industries. The event is also part of HDC’s efforts to prepare local halal entrepreneurs for the Malaysia International Halal Showcase through capacity building and nurturing programmes, the statement said. -- BERNAMA
