Helicopter center and plane-assembly plant to be opened in Baku - Russian deputy PM

BAKU, August 8. /TASS/. A helicopter center and an aircraft-assembly plant will be opened in the Azerbaijani capital city Baku, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Monday after talks between the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran. "A helicopter center will be established in Baku. There are many planes and helicopter of the Soviet and Russia make in Azerbaijan. So, they will be modernized and serviced in Azerbaijan," he said. "There is big interest to what concerns supplies of assemblages and components of the Russian make to assemble aircraft in Azerbaijan. An aircraft assembly plant will be opened in Baku," he said, adding that it will make it possible for Azerbaijan to join the narrow circle of countries which have aircraft-building industries. He said that such projects are applicable to Iran, as a bigger country. However one problem is yet to be solved in relations with Iran. "This problem stems from a traditional gap in financial laws. We are to find a formula we could use to ensure export financing of supplies and purchases of Russian industrial products by Iran," Rogozin said, adding that the governments of the two countries are "to find this formula as soon as possible to open the floodgates for large-scale cooperation." Touching on the trilateral cooperation format, the Russian deputy prime minister noted that Russia supports Azerbaijani President Iham Aliyev’s idea of convening a meeting of the intergovernmental commissions ahead of another trilateral meeting of the presidents.
