HIS Aims To Train 200 Halal Industry Experts
BANGI (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia) Feb 12 (Bernama) – Halal International Selangor (HIS) aims to produce 200 skilled manpower to manage and handle global halal guarantees before year-end.
Its director, Mahmud Abbas said those trained from among Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS) lecturers, state government officials involved in matters related to the halal industry and local authority enforcement personnel would play a leading role at national and global levels to develop products and services that meet halal standards.
He said the ever-increasing global halal market demand should be strategically mobilised to empower the country's economy and the industry's entrepreneurs.
"From the perspective of HIS, outsiders are keen on the halal industry but they face constraints, especially in the absence of expertise and in technical aspects that can develop products which meet the halal standards set," he added here Sunday.
Mahmud was speaking at a press conference after the launch of the Selangor Halal Trade Industry Capacity and Competency Development Programme (HTCP) by Selangor Islamic Religious Affairs, Malay Customs, Village Development and Traditional Village Committee Chairman Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi. --
He said, apart from supplying to local companies, the trained experts would be sent to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea to help companies that were keen to venture into the halal industry to develop their products to meet the global halal market.
They would be exposed to halal standards as set forth by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department, as well as facilitate the participating companies in acquiring certified halal certificates in this country, he said.
In the meantime, Ahmad Yunus said the state government's initiative in building the halal industry's capacity building programme with the cooperation of KUIS is set to be the best platform in conserving halal products as well as foster awareness on the importance of halal standards.
He said for a start, HTCP was in the 'Train The Trainers' phase involving 30 KUIS instructors from various fields of expertise who would serve as skilled manpower to the next trainer.
The efforts pioneered through the programme and aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of halal industry human capital were in line with Selangor’s ambition to lead the halal hub in the country, he noted.
