Ahvaz, Nov 8, IRNA – Oil and gas officials in the Iraqi city of Basra have expressed interest in more engagement by the Iranian energy companies in the country's southern province. Iraqi Basra officials keen to attract Iranian energy companies 'Despite high potential for investment in Basra, the engagement by the Iranian companies in the province tends to be lackluster,' Ali Shadad Al Fares Head of Oil and Gas Committee of the Basra Provincial Council said on Monday on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony for the Khuzestan 8th technical exhibition of oil industry equipment. 'Iranian companies are among well-known world companies and achievements made in recent years by the Iranian oil and gas companies, especially those in Khuzestan Province, are good evidence to this argument,' Al Fares said. He said that the Iraqi Oil Ministry has devised plans to develop small oil fields in the country. 'We expect more participation of Iranian oil equipment companies to make investments in the Iraqi projects,' he said. 1378/IRNA
