Major money changer to stop buying paper £5 notes in April
BANGKOK, March 31 (TNA) – As the Bank of England announced the old styled paper £5 notes will no longer be legal tender on May 5 2017, money changer Superrich Thailand said it will stop buying paper £5 notes on April 10.
This means April 9 is the last day that the major money changer will accept the paper £5 notes for exchange into other currencies.
Meanwhile, Kasikornbank Pcl has not yet set a date to stop buying the paper £5 notes.
The Bank of England has released new and improved plastic £5 notes into circulation since last September to replace the old fashioned paper ones.
Polymer banknotes are more durable and more secure than paper ones while paper fivers are about to become collectibles. (TNA)
