Malaysia: INCEIF Research Ranked 1st Malaysia Institution In REPEC

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), set up by Bank Negara Malaysia to develop human capital for the global Islamic finance industry, still ranks as the first in the country, among higher education institutions, to produce research papers in economics and sciences. Research Papers in Economics (REPEC), a decentralised bibliographic database of working papers, journal articles, books, books chapters and software components, all maintained by volunteers, recognised INCEIF for their contribution since 2015. INCEIF President and Chief Executive Officer Daud Vicary Abdullah said out of the top 30 academics in the country, five were attached with INCEIF and recognised by REPEC. "We are ranked 40th in Asia as a university and within the Financial Economics & Finance Department category, defined by REPEC, we are ranked 30th in the world. "This is an outstanding achievement as INCEIF is ranked higher than even some of the 16 faculties in famous institutions such as CASS Business School, The London School of Economics and the Henley Business School of the University of Reading," he said at the 8th INCEIF convocation ceremony here Saturday. Daud Vicary also said to mark INCEIF's 10 year journey, the global university of Islamic finance have produced a book titled "Islamic Finance in Malaysia: Growth & Development". "This book is written predominantly by our faculty members and peer-reviewed by industry practitioners. "It will be available for distribution and sale before the end of this month," he said. Meanwhile, in a statement issued to Bernama, INCEIF said students from Muslim-minority countries, namely Italy, United States and Japan were among the 254 students who graduated this year. Seventeen graduated in Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Finance; 11 Masters in Islamic Finance, 25 Master of Science in Islamic Finance, 115 Masters in Islamic Finance Practice and 76 Chartered Islamic Finance Professionals. They received their scrolls from INCEIF's Chancellor Zeti Akhtar Aziz. The graduation takes the number of INCEIF alumni to a total of 1,332. -- BERNAMA
