Malaysia, India Cooperate To Establish Design Lab
PUTRAJAYA, April 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and India will cooperate to establish a "design lab' for new entrepreneurs from both countries to create and design their own products.
Treasury Secretary-General Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah said the proposal to establish the lab follows Prime Minister Najib Razak's recent visit to India and which he was a part of.
He added that Indian companies, particularly those in the country's silicon valley, Bangalore, were keen on cooperating with Malaysian entities.
Mohd Irwan Serigar said the design lab is expected to be operational by the third quarter of this year and would offer short term courses of six months in product design expertise such as producing new car components.
"Among the groups to benefit from this design lab are new graduates keen on becoming entrepreneurs," he added.
He told reporters this after attending the Engagement Day 1Malaysia Entrepreneur or 1Met programme at the Finance Ministry here Friday.
Mohd Irwan Siregar said Malaysians should grab the opportunity to become entrepreneurs following the inflow of investments from China and India to realise the vision of Malaysia becoming one of the silicon valleys in the world.
"The products of Malaysian entrepreneurs need to characterise Asia, so that it can be marketed in India, China and Southeast Asia, which encompass more than half the global population," he added.
