Malaysian, Iranian education centers sign MoU
Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Institute for Research and Planning in Higher Education (IRPHE) and the Universiti Sains Malaysia or University of Science, Malaysia, have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the aim of upgrading cooperation at international level.
The MoU paves the way for holding joint research and academic programs as well as educational workshops, and exchanging students and publications.
Ali-Bagher Taherinia, chairman of the Institute for Research and Planning in Higher Education, said on Sunday that the MoU, which was prepared in cooperation with the Higher Education Institute of Malaysia in 2019 and is being extended today, should be inked on the basis of a new approach to expand collaborations.
He mentioned that the three-year-long activities have focused on scientific meetings and workshops, but we are keen on reaching the level of sharing policies and experiences because we are enthusiastic to know what is Malaysia’s approach to dealing with international developments concerning higher education.
Morshidi Sirat, Professor of Geography at the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, and the Director of the IPPTN, said that there has been an MoU between the governments of Iran and Malaysia, but we are preparing a new one.
Sirat went on to say that the MoU between IRPHE and Sains can turn into a prelude to a broader agreement to expand current cooperation.
Muhammad Muftahu, the acting director of IPPTN, said that one of the simplest ways to boost collaborations is to start small projects, and then, expand them to national or multinational cooperation.
Muftahu also said that we have a worldwide higher education network at our institute, whose members are top professors, academic directors, and industrial prominent figures, who are not merely famous at the regional level, and that this is a good pattern for establishing a regional network, which can be added to the current MoU.
