Minimum Wage Of Waykanan Up Rp177 Thousand In 2013
Waykanan, Lampung, Jan 14 (ANTARA) - The Officer of Social Security Affairs at the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry Lampung said the regency minimum wage (UMK) of Waykanan will increase by Rp177 thousand in 2013.
"The UMK will increase from Rp983 thousand to Rp1.160 thousand this year," stated Sutrisno Utomo here on Monday, while representing the head of the Department of Social Labor Manpower Waykanan, Sanusi Murod, in Blambanganumpu, which is about 220 miles north of Bandarlampung.
The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) has agreed to the increase in the UMK, and the proposal is awaiting legalisation by the Governor of Lampung Province.
"Logically, the UMK cannot go down because of inflation. In 2011, the UMK of Waykanan was set at Rp983 thousand," he noted.
He pointed out that the UMK is determined by a survey of decent living conditions (KHL).
"The wage council set a KHL for Waykanan of up to Rp220,457, along with an indicator, which was added to the survey. In 2012, the KHL for Waykanan was Rp1.100 thousand, and in 2013, it was Rp1,320,547," he said.
He explained that the KHL survey is conducted in some markets in the region, which they are considered to represent, such as the Jayatinggi Kasui District, Baradatu, Karyatiga, Pakuanratu District, and the Karyajaya Waytuba District.
"Fourteen items have been added to the survey indicator, increasing it from 46 indicators to 60 indicators," he said.
The addition of these indicators, according to him, is for items that are necessary this year but were not included in calculations last year, such as clothingshorts, belts, socks, and shoe-cleaning equipment.
There are some 322 companies in the southern part of East Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra, which employ 12,943 gentleman and 5,310 ladies.
