Minister of Transport, Communications Opens Qatar Motor Show 2017

Doha, April 18 (QNA) - Under the auspices of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti opened the Qatar Motor Show 2017 in the presence of HE Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi and a number of officials and businessmen at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. HE the minister of transport and communications said the show brings this year 14 cars that are displayed for the first time in Doha and eight cars that are displayed for the first time in the Gulf region, noting that all cars are unique, particularly those manually manufactured. He added that the show features a large number of classic cars. Speaking after the opening of the show, the minister said the prices of displayed cars whether racing cars or private cars are affordable, adding that such shows aim to support national economy. Qatar has become the stage of several exhibitions in the agricultural, electronic and industrial fields, which reflects the strength of the Qatari economy, HE the minister said, stressing that the country encourages such events and supports them in all possible manners, hailing the role and efforts of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) in this regard. HE Al Sulaiti said the ministry is exerting efforts that can be seen on the ground in terms of the road network and the execution of major projects such as those of Qatar Rail or at Hamad International Airport. "We are working to create an integrated transport system to be ready by 2020." For his part, QTA ?Director of PR and Communications Saif Al Kuwari said this year's edition displays 110 cars from 27 car makes, noting that the show aims to attract more visitors to Doha and introduce it as a tourist capital. He added that business events play a significant part in attracting more visitors to the country as well as its role in enhancing the capacities of youths and building their ability to organize and follow up on global shows. Al Kuwari said the next edition will be held in November 2018, with the show taking place biennial from now on in order to avoid the conflict with the Doha and Dubai shows. The motor show will now be staged alternately between Doha and Dubai. Qatar Motor Show 2017 extends over 12,000 square kilometers and comprises makes displaying 110, eight of whom are shown for the first time in the region and 14 for the first time in Qatar. The show gives car manufacturers a platform to interact with customers and provide practical experiments on their products and innovations. Leading manufacturers participate in the show with sports, luxury and medium cars, reflecting with the new launches the status of Qatar Motor Show as a regional platform for exclusive releases and promoting Qatar as a unique destination for commercial events. The seventh edition of the show adopted innovation as the main theme and promised car enthusiasts an unprecedented promotional event. For the first time at the show, a number of rare classic vehicles will be displayed at a 5,000-square-kilometer pavilion. They will display in coordination with Sheikh Faisal Museum, Mawater Qatar and Alfardan Automobiles. (QNA)
