MMEC Targets US$466,197 Monthly Sales In Kuwait

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Millennium Entrepreneurs Consortium (MMEC) has set a monthly export sales target of US$466,197 (RM2 million) for food and beverage products from five Laanza Hyper supermarkets in Kuwait. (US$1 = RM4.29) Group Executive Chairman Hassan Saad said over 150 products produced by 57 local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) would be sold at the supermarkets starting July 17. “This is the third phase of our exports to the supermarkets after recording sales worth US$81,584 (RM350,000) during the first and second phases early this year. “We will continue our efforts to facilitate the product export activities and we hope that the amount will continue to increase,” he told reporters after the launch of the “Beyond Nation - Time to Export’ campaign here Wednesday. Hassan said the campaign was aimed at bringing together local SME products for the export market in order to meet high demand from supermarket chains overseas. The campaign was launched by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation former chief executive officer Dzulkifli Mahmud. During the event, Dzulkifli also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between MMEC and the OIC International Business Centre, the Mongolian Malaysian Business Council and Laanza Hyper, which was aimed at assisting local SMEs in making inroads in the international markets. -- BERNAMA
