KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Global snacks manufacturer, Mondelēz Malaysia (Mondelēz), has added the production of belVita Breakfast Biscuits to its manufacturing facility in Tampoi, Malaysia's southern state of Johor, following a US$5.2 million (RM21 million) investment. The new production line will fuel the supply of the belVita range throughout Malaysia and other Southeast Asian markets. "Our manufacturing plant in Tampoi has the right capability to bring the highest standards in quality, safety, taste and halal-compliance as required. "We are leveraging the plant's state-of-the-art facilities, expertise and good manufacturing processes in creating some of Malaysians' favourite biscuits," Mondelēz Malaysia Managing Director, Swadheen Sharma said in a statement Thursday. He said the introduction of belVita is Mondelēz's concerted response to the growing consumer preference towards healthy snacking and convenient breakfast options. "The belVita production, currently contributes to 14 per cent of the plant's capacity. "Having belVita produced here is a significant part of the company’s global growth and ambition," he added. Mondelez said belVita is available in over 50 countries worldwide and is one of Mondelez's fastest growing brands, charting about 20 per cent sales growth annually over the past two years. Opened in 1959, the Tampoi plant has about 500 workers and produces over 32,000 tonnes of biscuits annually. It has been instrumental in introducing iconic biscuit brands such as Jacobs, Chipsmore and Tiger Biskuat which are also exported to Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Lebanon. -- BERNAMA
