Over QR1.4 Billion in Opportunities for 2022 Offered to Qatari Companies

Doha, April 04 (QNA) - The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) announced as Qatar advances rapidly with construction projects across the country, more than QAR 1.4 billion in business opportunities related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar will be on offer to local small and medium enterprises at the upcoming Moushtarayat Conference 2017. Hosted by the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and the Ministry of Finance, the three-day event will include participation from the main contractors building five of the proposed host venues for the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East, under the umbrella stand of the SC. Competition Venues Executive Director at the SC Ghanim Al Kuwari said, "As progress continues across Qatar to deliver the necessary infrastructure for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, were very happy to offer local small and medium enterprises the opportunity to take part in these exciting projects, which will leave a lasting legacy for the surrounding communities." "The main contractors building five of our stadiums are looking for local partners, with projects that have an added value of QAR 1.4 billion," he added. Eight of the proposed host venues are currently in different stages of construction, with works advancing rapidly across the different sites and the first stadium set for completion in 2017 at Khalifa International Stadium. The stadiums, which have been designed by some of the world's leading architects as well as renowned Qatari architects from the Arab Engineering Bureau, are creating opportunities for local, regional and international companies. Companies working on projects for the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will attend the conference include MIDMAC, a company that, in a joint venture with PORR QATAR, is building Al Wakrah Stadium, a 40,000-seater venue that will host matches up to the quarter-final stage. Qatari contractor HBK Contracting Co. W.L.L. (HBK) and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), also a joint-venture building the iconic Lusail Stadium, proposed opening and final venue in 2022, will also have a presence at the event. Qatari contractor Al Balagh Trading & Contracting, and Indias biggest construction firm, Larsen & Toubro Limited, main contractor for Al Rayyan Stadium, Salini Impregilo, Galfar, Cimolai, the Italian main contractor for Al Bayt Stadium and J&P Qatar WLL, Conspel Qatar WLL, J& P Avax S.A and J&P (Overseas) Ltd. the joint venture building Qatar Foundation, will also be at the conference.
