PM: Thailand's jobless figures maby be lowest in ASEAN

BANGKOK, May 1 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says that Thailand's jobless figures appear to be the lowest in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Addressing an event marking the National Labour Day in Bangkok on Saturday (May 1), Prime Minister General Prayut assessed that the number of the unemployed in Thailand is also now, probably, the lowest in the world. The prime minister acknowledged that more than 10,000 international investment projects, run by the private sector, have sought for approvals of promotional privileges by the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), under the Ministry of Industry, since his interim government took office in the last quarter of 2014; so, he believes more jobs should be created in the Thai economy in the near future. The prime minister promised that his government will look into 11 demands raised by representatives of workers this year and will immediately take action for those which can be done right away. The prime minister urged workers to also improve their labour and language skills to cope with rising competition in the country and in the region. (TNA)
