PSA Celebrates Gulf Statistics Day

Doha, December 23 (QNA) - The Planning and Statistic Authority (PSA) will celebrate Saturday the Gulf Statistics Day, which is marked on Dec. 24 across GCC countries. In a statement Friday, PSA said that celebrating Gulf Statistics Day this year comes under the slogan 'statistics for sustainable opportunities,' based on the pivotal role played by official statistics in building objective bases for decision-making and developing policies based on actual facts on the ground. The statement added that this year's celebration aims to raise awareness of the importance of statistics in the development process based on careful planning, recognize the efforts of employees and experts working in the statistics field, and consolidate the partnership between the GCC countries to sustainably improve and develop their statistical environment. Based on this partnership, the GCC-STAT Center was established in Sep. 2011. The decision to celebrate the Gulf Statistics Day was taken by the GCC Ministerial Council in 2016. (QNA)
