PT Denso Building New US$110 Million Factory In Bekasi

Bekasi, W Java, Nov 30 (ANTARA) - PT Denso Indonesia is building a new factory in Bekasi, West Java, at a cost of Rp1.3 trillion (US$110 million to produce automotive spare parts. The factory to be operational in February 2014, will produce engine spare parts including ECUs (Engine Electronic Control Units) VCT (Variabel Cam Timing), alternator, and starter and other spare parts. Industry Minister MS Hidayat expressed his appreciation to the Japanese company for building its third factory in the country. "The project will open jobs for 1,700 workers," the minister said in the ceremony, attended by President and CEO of Denso Corporation of Japan Nobuaki Katoh, Chief Commissioner of PT Astra Otoparts Tbk Johnny Darmawan, President of PT Denso Indonesia Yutaka Yamanouchi. The project will contribute to the country`s economic development, Hidayat said. The project would also contribute to transfer of technology in the automotive sector, he added. Senior Executive Director of Denso Corporation Akio Shikamura said Denso is confident Indonesian market will continue to grow. Johnny Darmawan said PT Denso Indonesia is answering the challenge to use local components.
