Qatar Central Depository Witnesses Significant Increase in Shareholders Activities in July
Doha, August 23 (QNA) - Qatar Central Depository Company (QCSD) witnessed a significant increase in the activities of registered shareholders during July 2017, according to the company's monthly report.
In its monthly report for July 2017, QCSD reviewed its most prominent achievements, including the custody, recording, management, acquisition, clearing and settlement of securities and derivatives, and other financial instruments; the provision of related financial services in Qatar and abroad; the transfer of ownership of executed contracts through trading and remittances; in addition to the implementation of all bookings and decommissioning and foreclosure operations at the request of the relevant parties.
According to the monthly report, QCSD most important achievements in July were the addition of private subscription shares to the shareholders of Doha Bank where the new capital becomes amounting to 3 billion, 100 million, 476 thousand and 20 riyals, distributed over 310 million, 46 thousand and 702 shares.
The company also adjusted the foreign ownership of Vodafone Qatar to 49% of the capital, equivalent to 414 million and 246,000 shares. In addition, the company also registered the shares of Investment Holding Group with its capital of 830 million riyals, divided into 83 million shares.
The company also registered the treasury bills issued by Qatar Central Bank for the third quarter of 2017 in its regulations. The Company recorded treasury bills on July 4, 2017 and due on October 3. The bills varied from a 3-month treasury deposit of 500 million riyals with a number of 50,000 issuances, a 6-month treasury note was issued for 300 million riyals with a total of 30,000 issuances, and a 9-month 200 million riyals with a number of issuances reached 20 thousand.
According to the report, the number of remittances in July reached 177, compared to 166 in June, with a change of 6.63%. The number of Inheritance transfers reached 917, compared with 418 in June, a change of 119.38.
The number of shareholders recognized in the company's system during July reached 954 thousand and 356 contributors, compared to 954 thousand and 294 contributors in June, a change of 0.01%, while the number of shareholders with a bank account was 46 thousand 491 contributors in July against 46,256 contributors in June with a change of 0.15%.
Meanwhile, the mortgage transactions witnessed a significant increase, with 112 transactions recorded in July, compared to 19 transactions in June, a change of 489.47%. The decoupling operations also saw a rise in July, with 415 transactions recorded, and compared to 187 in June with a change of 121.91%.
Qatar Central Depository Company is the only company licensed by Qatar Financial Markets Authority to provide these services in Qatar. It was established by Qatar Central Bank as part of the development process of the financial market infrastructure in the State of Qatar in order to reduce the risks arising from adjustments after trading and reduce conflicts of interest.
