QU, Huawei Technologies Investment Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Doha, April 05 (QNA) - Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies Investment Co Ltd - Qatar to establish and implement a Chinese language and information and communications technology (ICT) training program for 10 selected students from different CENG departments. In the terms of the MoU, the Chinese language and ICT training program will be provided to 10 qualified students selected by an authoritative panel of QU representatives. The training program will take place in China for two weeks. The Chinese language training will be provided in Beijing during one week, while the ICT training will be provided in Huawei research and development (R&D) centers in Shenzhen for another week. In his remarks, CENG Dean Dr Khalifa Al-Khalifa said: "Through this MoU, CENG showcases its commitment to providing students with opportunities to heighten their skills and competencies and to enhance their knowledge in the field of information and communications technology. Additionally, such opportunity will enable our students to get acquainted with Chinese language, which will help them to stay in close touch with technological advancements and innovations in China, and to interact with experts easily." He added: "In coordination with our partners, Qatar University will continue to deliver on its mission and vision to fulfil the needs of the industrial sector by graduating highly qualified professionals, and by providing its students with training and internship opportunities that enable them to make a difference in various areas at the workplace." Huawei Technologies Investment Co Ltd - Qatar President and CEO Zong Yan said: "We are proud to roll out our flagship global CSR program in Qatar in partnership with a leading educational institution such as Qatar University, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Qatar.
