Samsung introduces 88-inch QLED TV

SEOUL, Aug. 2 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. on Wednesday said it introduced an 88-inch QLED TV in line with steps to expand its portfolio of premium televisions and its market presence.
The latest release adds to Samsung's lineup of 55-, 65- and 75-inch QLED TVs, which are expected to help the South Korean tech giant garner a larger slice of the premium TV market.
The factory price of the new QLED TV stands at 33 million won (US$29,424).
Samsung said the quantum dot technology, which utilizes a film of semiconductor nanocrystals to boast far more vivid colors than liquid crystal displays (LCDs), is capable of enhancing viewers' experiences.
The tech giant also applied metalcoating to the quantum dot nanocrystals to develop what it calls "metal quantum dot" technology.
"On the back of the 88-inch QLED TV, which perfectly combines technology and design, we hope (the company's) presence in the premium TV market further develops," Samsung said in its release.
