Singapore's Scoot To Double Its Fleet In Five Years
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Scoot, Singapore Airlines Group's low-cost, medium-to-long haul unit, aims to double its fleet within five years.
Scoot, which currently has a fleet of 14 wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 23 Airbus A320, would add six Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 39 Airbus A320neo to its fleet soon.
Scoot Chief Executive Officer, Lee Lik Hsin, said the 39 Airbus A320neo were expected to gradually arrive starting from 2018 and over the coming years for the growth and replacement of its current fleet.
He said this after the unveiling of the New Malaysian Destinations here Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the airline had also kick-started ticket sales for its latest Malaysian destinations – Kuching and Kuantan.
The airline would be flying to Kuching on a daily basis starting from Oct 29, 2017, and to Kuantan thrice weekly from Feb 2, 2018.
To commemorate this milestone achievement, Scoot is offering attractive one-way fare for its coming Kuching and Kuantan flights, and the promotion starts from today and ends on Aug 14.
The two locations were among the five new flight destinations announced on July 25, in conjunction with the Scoot-Tigerair merger under the Scoot brand.
The other three destinations were Honolulu, United States of America, Harbin, China and Palembang, Indonesia.
Lee said the addition of the Kuching and Kuantan to its flight paths complemented its robust South-East Asia network.
“We will continuously identify opportunities to bring the ‘scootitude’, the unique Scoot travel experience to more guests in the region,” he said.
Scoot had also rolled out its first A320 aircraft, which was previously operated by Tigerair and repainted with the Scoot livery, named "Conscious Coupling" in commemoration of the Scoot and Tigerair merger.
Tigerair’s entire fleet would undergo a transformation, and the livery change was expected to be completed by mid-2018.
