SRT launches additional two new routes with new passenger cars

BANGKOK, Dec 3 (TNA) -- The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has launched new services using the new compartment on two additional routes leading into the northeastern and southern regions. SRT Deputy Governor Tanongsak Pongprasert said that the SRT has now started the operations of the new train coaches on two other routes, both of which special express trains to the southern and northeastern regions of the country. This included the Thaksinarat Special Express which runs between Bangkok-Hat Yai-Bangkok and the Isan Makha Special Express, runs between Bangkok-Nong Khai and back. The latest launch completed the four potential routes in which were planned to be operated with the new train compartments. The first two train line operated with the new passenger cars include Utrawithee Special Express and Isan Wattana Special Express, which were well accepted by the general public and passengers. Mr Tanongsak said the procurement of the new compartments was carried out in answer to the government and Ministry of Transport (MOT)'s policy to improve the country basic infrastructure system to pave way for long term development. He noted that the move also signified the largest change taken by the SRT to provide more traveling conveniences by trains to the public, as the new compartments would allowed the trains to run faster on the dual-track rails which are currently being constructed. He then pointed out that once the dual-track system is complete, the new trains would be able to reach their destinations faster, meaning the public would benefit the most from the change. (TNA)
