Street Food Bangkok app launched

BANGKOK, September 22 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has joined forces with Thailand Foundation, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to officially launch the "Street Food Bangkok" application, aimed to satisfy younger generations, both Thais and foreign visitors, who love to eat out and tour around the city by searching for best roadside places. Thai Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Norachit Singhaseni presided over a cerenony to launch the "Street Food Bangkok" application on September 21, in which representatives from Thailand Foundation, TAT and BMA also took part. The application, developed and patented with the Thai Ministry of Commerce's Department of Intellectual Property by Thailand Foundation, publicises and promote "best places to eat" in the capital. Besides, the application is aimed to promote Thai cultures and tourism, as well as to help stimulate the Thai economy. Initially, over 121 street food shops in Bangkok have agreed to participate in the initiative, while the application will expand to include street food shops in provincial areas in the future, namely resort Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai Provinces in the Thai North. The Street Food Bangkok application can be downloaded on both Android and iOS smart phone devices and tablets, while the application itself focuses on a user-friendly design, allowing the users easy access to search for their favourite food places. The new application shows the address of each food place, along with its popular and recommended menus, while also satisfying the trend of the current society, where online media channels are used to search for new and exciting places to eat or visit.
