Thai Cabinet nods for construction of Futurium
BANGKOK, April 19 (TNA) - The Thai Cabinet has approved a mega-plan on the construction of the country's first-ever Futurium, a comprehensive center for future innovations, set to be completed over the next 39 months.
Nathaporn Jatusripitak, Advisor to the Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office, told journalists that the Thai Cabinet, at its weekly meeting in Bangkok on April 18, endorsed the mega-plan, with the first state budget of about 2.08 billion baht in the present 2017 fiscal year.
Nathaporn said the Cabinet has assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology to jointly invest with the private sector to materialize the Futurium, covering its construction, decoration and the development of overall operational and management systems.
According to the advisor, the Futurium will be divided into the Innovation World, in which advanced science and technological innovations will be on public displays and the Job World, in which occupational guidelines in science, technology and innovations will be offered to visitors, including those in the advanced electric train, aviation, space and robotic inventions, as well as smart farming, nano technology and Thai innovations.
Besides, there will be a historic science museum, a natural museum, an information technology (IT) meseum, an ecological system museum and a future world museum in the compound of the Futurium.
The advisor revealed that many private corporations have offered to jointly invest with the Thai government to develop the mega-plan, including PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), ESSO and Betagro Group. (TNA)
