Thai chefs welcomed abroad

BANGKOK, November 28 (TNA) - Thai chefs have been increasingly welcomed overseas, with Japan employing the largest number of them over the past three months of this year. Singhadej Chuamnart, Director-General of the Department of Employment, under the Thai Ministry of Labour, told journalists of the update on Monday, saying that a total of 672 Thai workers, both males and females, have been hired as chefs in foreign countries during the August-October period. Singhadej revealed that most of the Thai chefs overseas during the last three-month period, or 116,were employed in Japan, followed by 55 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 46 in New Zealand, 44 in South Korea and 37 in the United Kingdom. The senior official noted that there are now more employment opportunities for Thai chefs, suggesting that Thai people wanting to work as chefs overseas further develop themselves to meet qualifications required in each foreign country, including their cooking and language skills, both English and the language spoken by natives in the country, in which they are going to work.
