Thai Commerce Ministry seeking best e-commerce websites
NONTHABURI, May 8 (TNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce will hold an e-commerce website contest in order to support online trade and boost consumer confidence amid growing internet-based businesses around the world, including Thailand.
Banjongjit Angsu-Sigh, director-general of the ministry’s Business Development Department, said the e-commerce business proved to be very popular with the value of online transactions between businesses and consumers (B2C) totaling 729.292 billion baht in 2016, up 43 per cent from 2015.
The strong growth reflected an increased number of online consumers and Thailand’s transition into the digital society.
Ms Banjongjit added that convenience, fast deliveries, and lower prices for products and services are among key factors that are helping to attract more online customers. She added that improving consumer confidence is necessary to make the Thai e-commerce business strong.
As a result, relevant units from the public and private sectors specializing in e-commerce will organize the “Best e-Commerce Website Award 2017” contest to find best websites in three different categories – outstanding management, creative marketing and high credibility.
The winning websites will receive an honorary plaque and be advertised through various platforms of the Business Development Department. (TNA)
