Thailand to construct two waste-powered power plants
BANGKOK, June 13 (TNA) - A committee tasked with laying out policies on joint public and private partnership (PPP) has given the green light on the construction of two garbage-powered electricity plants in Thailand, totally worth more than 6.6 billion baht.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister MR. Pridiyathorn Devakula, who oversees economic affairs, told journalists of the update, after a PPP committee meeting at Bangkok's Government House on Friday (Jun 12), saying the committee has agreed that the first two projects should start this year.
Kulit Sombatsiri, Director-General of the State Enterprise Policy Office, revealed that the first waste-powered electricity plant will be built in Bangkok’s neighbouring Nonthaburi Province, with an investment fund of about 4.4 billion baht, and the second plant will be constructed in Nakhon Ratchasima Province in the Thai Northeast, with its investment set at about 2.2 billion baht.
