Thailand to ink deal with Myanmar on joint development of Dawei Port
BANGKOK, January 28 (TNA) - Thailand and Myanmar will sign an official pact late this month on their joint development of the Dawei Seaport Project, to be also supported by Japan.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula told journalists, after his meeting with the visiting special advisor to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Hiroto Izumi, at Bangkok's Government House on January 27, that he will fly to Myanmar on January 30 to sign the cooperation pact with the Myanmar government.
During his stay in Myanmar, MR Pridiyathorn said he will also discuss with Myanmar authorities on Japan's plan to join the development of the Dawei Deep-Seaport Project.
According to the Thai deputy premier, Japan has already agreed to join the construction of rail tracks for electric trains which will reach Dawei and wants to co-invest in the development of the Dawei Deep Seaport as well. (TNA)
